
Correct artwork preparation, setting and designing for printing output is utmost important in ensuring your final printed
item or product meets your expected requirement.
These printing guidelines below should be of help in preparing your artwork for printing output.
File Setup
- Set the size of the artboard dimensions to the actual print size in mm or inch (prefered). Set to 50% of the actual print size for large scale artworks.
- Set artwork bleed area size to 3mm for all sides (Offset Printing). Optional for Inkjet and Silkscreen printing.
- Ensure the document color mode is set to CMYK. Any artworks received in different color mode will be auto converted to CMYK. We will not be responsible for any color variant resulting from this conversion.
Artwork Layout & Setting
- Set safe zone area of 3mm from all sides of your artboard. All text and images that is required in your artwork must be contained within the safe zone area.
- Background color and/or any design elements that is at the trim/cutting line must be extended to the bleed area.
- Ensure all images in your artwork are at 300dpi resolution. Lower resolution image could appear blurred when printed.
- Avoid having borders or border lines at all sides of your artworks as this borders may/will appear unbalanced after trimming unless there is a die-cut process for your order.
- Ensure smooth gradient color transition when applying gradient color effect in your artwork to avoid uneven gradient toning to be visible when printed.
- Avoid using multiple or complex effects in your artwork as some effect may not be achievable in print and could distrupt the print quality.
- We use CMYK Process Color for print output. Convert all RGB and Pantone Colors to CMYK Color in your artwork.
- Insert document crop marks which indicates trim/cutting lines of your artwork.
- Create separate layers for Spot UV, Hot Stamping, Emboss/Deboss and Die-Cut and label them accordingly.
- All elements or area for Spot UV, Hot Stamping and Emboss/Deboss must be in vector format and set to 100% black.
Text Copy
- Proof read all text copies in your artwork for spelling errors and grammar.
- All fonts must be outlined to avoid inappropriate text display and also to avoid font substitution that could occur.
- Include font files together with your artwork if the programme you use doesn't support font outline feature.
File Saving
- We accept Adobe Illustrator(2020), Adobe PDF and Adobe Photoshop(2020) files as the prefered file for print output.
- Jpeg, Png and Tiff files are also accepted for printing subject to our print output compliance.
